How cute!

Here's the original June 5, 1950 advertisement in Life magazine for Esquire Lanol White Shoe Polish! It's even safer for babies!!!! Now my story is changing. Maybe my bottle belonged to a new mom who kept her baby's first shoes spotless as he or she toddled around my backyard!

I remember that shoe polish! Late 50's, baby sister Lois, shoes needing polish, mom did so, baby sister chewing on the toes of her shoes, and instant white mouth, chin, tongue, etc!

The advertisement says safe for babies, but if baby chewed on the shoe, the polish rubbed off pretty easily! Maybe it tasted good.

I like your blog....came here by way of your dear mom-in-law. And I'll be back! Marge

Hi, Marge! Welcome to my blog and thanks for sharing your memory! I'm getting mental images of your little sister with white shoe polish all over her mouth!

We also have an old bottle for Esquire Lanol White. Wife loves to good hunting for antique bottles and what not from old farm house sites.
